Aging homes, aging pipes
Much of east and central Plano was built in the 1980s and 1990s, so a large share of homes are now 30–40+ years old. Original water heaters are well past their typical lifespan, and cast-iron or galvanized supply and drain lines are common repipe candidates. Repiping and water-heater replacement are among the most frequent Plano calls.
Clay soil and slab leaks
Plano sits on the blackland-prairie clay that defines Collin County. The soil swells when wet and shrinks when dry, shifting slab foundations and stressing the water lines beneath them until they crack — the classic 'slab leak.' Leak detection and reroute/repipe work are in steady demand here.
Hard water and water heaters
North Texas water is hard, accelerating sediment buildup and corrosion. In Plano that shortens water-heater life and drives strong demand for replacements, tankless conversions, and water softeners.
Remodels in west Plano
West Plano's higher-end and custom homes generate fixture upgrades, gas-line work, and multi-system plumbing during remodels — work that rewards a plumber comfortable with larger, more complex homes.
